This is possibly a once in forever trip offer from Baja Jones!
March 11 – 20, 2020 $4295
Join our founder and author of the book Gray Whales My Twenty Years of Discovery for a fabulous 11 day adventure. Keith has been leading whale watching tours since 1996. He has driven more than a quarter million miles on the paved and dirt roads of Baja California Mexico. Nobody knows the 1000 miles of Baja better than he does.
This special trip will leave San Diego then your group will fly south to our camp on the shore of Laguna Ojo de Liebre (Scammon’s Lagoon). Group size limited to 6 – 8. You will enjoy two nights in our camp From there you will continue south through the desert mountains of Central Baja with your destination the quaint and interesting town of Loreto. Here you will go out on the Sea of Cortez in search of the World’s largest whale species – the blue whale and the fin whale.
Leaving Loreto your group of adventurous whale watchers will continue about 3 hours south to Magdalena Bay where you will once again go out in search of close encounters with Gray Whales.
Next your group will return to our camp for one last whale watching day. Then Keith will continue to drive your group north to San Diego. You will stop along the way to explore a painted cave site in the highest mountains of Baja. For our final night in Baja we will stay at a shoreside hotel in the agricultural town of San Quintin. You will pass through an area that has been the bread basket of the western United States since the ‘49ers Gold Rush days when wheat was grown and processed into flour before being shipped north to become crusty San Francisco sour dough bread. Now home to the world’s largest tomato grower.
